Living sustainability: 100% in harmony with nature

Nature is a gift. Beautiful, and at the same time, incredibly fragile. We cannot just take from it, we also have to give something back if we want to protect it for our children. Growing up in close contact with nature, we have always had great respect for it. Early on, we realised that we owe a lot to Mother Nature. Not only as citizens of this earth, but also as hotel operators. That is why we have always been committed to preserving the natural environment as we have found it, with respect for the people, plants, and animals that inhabit it.

Already in 1988, long before the buzzword sustainability was widely talked about, our hotel in South Tyrol was awarded the South Tyrolean Eco label. We have always been actively committed to protecting the environment and still do everything we can to contribute to the cause. Over the years, we have converted the heating system to an environmentally friendly wood pellet power system, which has been awarded the “Tiroler Umweltsiegel” (Tyrolean environmental seal). A ventilation system with heat recovery is just as much a matter of course for us as a charging station for electric cars in our car park. The energy we need for our hotel comes from our own solar power system and from the Tires/Tiers hydroelectric power station.

Since 2021 we are also partner of the climate neutrality alliance 2025.

0 emissions, 100% holiday!

Partner of Climate Neutrality Alliance 2025

Yes, the climate also goes on holiday with us… Here, in one of the 32 Vitalpina Hotels, which recently became the first hotel cooperation ever to join the Climate Neutrality Alliance: zero emissions, for a carefree holiday with a clear conscience.

We at the Vitalpina Hotels have decided as one to join the Climate Neutrality Alliance in 2021. We are therefore the first hotel cooperative venture to commit to a calculation of its own carbon footprint and thus to become as climate-neutral as possible.

Various factors will be taken into account, such as the consumption of detergents in our laundries, the number of our service vehicles and the distances they drive, our water and electricity consumption and the number of overnight stays and meals provided to our guests and staff. The result will provide us with an exact figure in tonnes of the CO2 emissions produced by ourselves and our guests.

The three-year climate neutrality plan provides for set-off measures that will be invested in the climate projects of the Swiss non-profit foundation “myclimate” for the benefit of drinking water treatment in Uganda, communal reforestation in Nicaragua and mangrove afforestation and women’s rights in Myanmar.

In nature. For nature.

The comprehensive sustainability concept of our hotel at the Catinaccio/Rosengarten is also reflected in the architecture of our hotel. The building not only blends in harmoniously with its surroundings, but it was also built exclusively with environmentally friendlymaterials such as local stone and natural wood. In 2016, the Cyprianerhof was awarded the highest “KlimaHaus Gold Nature” certification for this and for the building’s high energy efficiency.

Keeping our carbon footprint as small as possible also plays an important role in the cuisine at our hotel. Vegetables from Untergamperhof, strawberries from Schmiedhof in Val Passiria/Passeiertal, milk from the Merano/Meran area, regional meat suppliers, and apples exclusively from South Tyrolean apple growers – we attach great importance to working together with regional producers from the surrounding area. We have also dedicated ourselves entirely to sustainability in the wellness area. The beauty products that we use are all made in South Tyrol, produced with essences that can only be found in this unique natural landscape. And during your stay with us, you can swim in clear Dolomite spring water. Thanks to the modern saltwater electrolysis system, we can do without all of the additives, such as chlorine.

Gentle mobility in focus

Speaking of doing without: When you spend your holiday at our hotel at the Catinaccio/Rosengarten, then you can leave your car behind. Hiking and mountain bike tours start right outside our hotel door or can be easily reached by public transport, which you can use free of charge with the MobilCard South Tyrol. Directly in front of our wellness hotel in South Tyrol, you will find a bus stop where a bus can take you to Bolzano/Bozen. In winter, there is also a bus that takes you directly to the Carezza-Karerpass ski area. Do you prefer to be independent during your holiday? As our guest, you have the possibility to hire an electric car at an attractive price. Just give us a call or send us an e-mail.
