Is this what freedom feels like?
Your summer holiday in the Dolomites in South Tyrol
Leave the greyness of everyday life behind. And come to the Dolomites, your summer escape. Up here, where the mountains challenge you, where nature grounds you, everything feels more vibrant. The colours, scents, sounds. And you are invited. Only wait until you see the mountain scenery painted in the beautiful hues of dusk and dawn.
Until the mountain is calling you – always upwards, always higher – to hike, climb, bike up to the summit. Until you lay your eyes on the stunning landscape down at your feet. Making all the effort worth it. And we promise, you will never get tired of this view. Because neither do we.
As the mountain peaks are stretching out before you, seemingly melting into the sky, there is just you and the view. No noise, no distractions. Suddenly, the only thing that matters is this moment. And everything that seemed important can wait. Your thoughts are light, your head is clear. This is what freedom feels like.
A typical summer day in the Dolomites
In summer, the ideal day follows the natural rhythm of the mountains:
- Early morning: start hikes in cool temperatures
- Late morning: stable conditions for demanding tours
- Afternoon: possible thunderstorms – time to return or relax
- Evening: spa time and Enrosadira experience
This balance of activity and relaxation makes summer in the Dolomites especially rewarding.
Summer in the Dolomites – what makes it special
Conditions vary throughout the season and create different experiences:
Early summer (June)
- alpine meadows in bloom
- quieter trails
- first high-altitude hikes possible
High summer (July & August)
- ideal for alpine tours
- all mountain huts open
- busier period, especially in August
Note: thunderstorms are common in the afternoon – early starts are recommended.
Summer experiences at Cyprianerhof
- Hiking directly from the hotel – start within 1 minute
- Guided tours with local experts
- Peaceful nature – located at the end of the valley
- Views of the Rosengarten – directly from the hotel
- Evening Enrosadira – no extra effort required
The combination of nature, activity and tranquility makes summer here truly special.
A unique natural phenomenon in summer is the so-called Enrosadira, when the Dolomite peaks turn red and orange at sunset.
At Cyprianerhof, this spectacle can be experienced directly from the hotel terrace, without any hiking required.
When can you see the Enrosadira?
The rocks begin to glow about 10–20 minutes before sunset. The most intense colors appear shortly after sunset and last only a few minutes.
Best conditions
- clear skies
- dry air
- unobstructed horizon
Tip: stable summer weather often creates the most intense colors.
While many places in the Dolomites become very busy in summer, Tiers at Rosengarten remains intentionally quieter. The reason lies in its location: the village is situated at the end of the valley and has no through road.
Unlike Alpe di Siusi – Europe’s largest high alpine meadow with extensive tourist infrastructure – the area around the Rosengarten is more alpine, more authentic and less crowded.
What this means in summer
- Fewer people on the hiking trails – especially outside the peak weeks in August
- Direct access to nature without looking for parking
- Quiet evenings instead of busy tourist surroundings
- A more intense nature experience thanks to less infrastructure
