Tour description
From the hotel at 1,750m we will climb to the Doss meadows. From there on starts the forest trail leading to Schwarzen Lettn (the second best water spring in the whole valley). Then the trail becomes a bit narrower and it leads over a wooden bridge and it climbs up gradually as the valley becomes narrower and narrower up to Ersten Leger. Once there you can sit comfortably at the shepherd's hut and enjoy a hot cup of tea that you've brought along.
The trail continues over another bridge that crosses over to the source of the Tschamin, which in just ten meters changes from a dry river bed into a bubbling mountain river. Once the past the source it is exciting to continue along the mostly dry course of the river. From here it takes about half an hour to reach the Right Leger, a marvelous vantage point on the Grasleiten Peaks and the Tschamin Peaks.
From there on you can either return along the same path or extend the excursion a bit and climb up for another hour until fork of the trail leading to the Grasleiten Refuge and Tierseralpl.
Highlights
The view of the Tschamin Peaks and the Schlern's walls on one side and the imposing towers and peaks of the Rosengarten on the other. A close encounter with primal and wild nature. With a bit of luck you can come across wildlife like chamois.
