Tour description:
Transfer to the Karer Pass – 1,750 metres – and with the chair lift to the Paolina hut – 2,140 metres.
On the much used Hirzel Path, we hike for about 40 minutes to the Rotwand hut – 2,280 metres. Capuccino break. A short ascent of 15 minutes brings us to the Campaz Peak (2,320 metres), which has fantastic views: directly in front of us is the Vaél Basin with the rocks of the Rotwand mountain, the Masaré Towers, the Mugoni Peak; further back, you see the Southern and Eastern Dolomites, from the Pala Group to the Marmolada and the Tofana. This view can be enjoyed throughout the rest of the tour.
Below the white-yellow Mugoni wall, our path turns and leads us just below the bizarre Cigolade Towers to a height of 2,300 metres to the Ciampedié plateau (1,998 metres). 2 hours. Just before Ciampedié, we will have a magnificent view to the Vajolet Towers, the Larsec Group and the eastern wall of the Rosengarten peak.
The return journey leads us first of all through beautiful Swiss pine and fir tree forests; at a later stage on the way to Vaél Stall, we will pass interesting rock formations. From here, we follow the climbing path across the Alpine meadows until we reach the Rotwand hut (1.5 hours). You will enjoy some self-made Enzian schnapps in the little, cosy Pederiva hut! The last piece of our route brings us slowly back to the Paolina hut and to the chair lift … or we can also choose the steeper descent directly to the Karer Pass (40 minutes – 1:20 hrs).
Adventure highlights:
Views to the neighbouring Dolomite groups on one side, as well as to the rock world of the Rosengarten on the other. A direct encounter, wild nature. If we are lucky, we will see wild animals such as the chamois or marmot.
